NBA Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers Sign Pierre Jackson To Contract In Free Agency

The Philadelphia 76ers have added Pierre Jackson this offseason according to Pro Basketball Talk, signing the free agent to a deal after drafting him in the second round in 2013, after which he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in the Nerlens Noel package.

PBT reports that the Sixers signed Jackson despite the fact that he is injured, as he is in on a partially guaranteed one-year deal after previously tearing his Achilles in the Orlando Summer League. Jackson previously played in Europe and also in the D-League and he was the subject of trade rumors last season, but no deal went down. The contract has no team option for next season and he was signed for this season despite being injured.

Jackson tore it up last season in the D-League and now he could be a stash player until he gets healthy and if the team likes his talent, it's reason enough to sign him. The Sixers dealt with Noel being injured all of last season and they have Joel Embiid on the men after taking him number three overall in the draft. Sam Hinkie and Brett Brown are trying to build the franchise back and while the team was terrible last season, they have a solid young core and now Pierre Jackson joins it for the time being.
