Houston Texans Rumors: Andre Johnson Trade To Raiders or Browns Off After Training Camp Report As WR Likes Ryan Fitzpatrick?

Jul 28, 2014 10:58 AM EDT

The Houston Texans are happy to have Andre Johnson in training camp and now any idea of a trade with the wide receiver is off, as the Texans and Johnson have put their issues behind them and now he is ready to play with Ryan Fitzpatrick after previous rumors came up about potential deals to the Raiders or Browns when he was staying away from the team.

According to ESPN.com, Johnson has reported to camp after previously threatening not to show and this is a big deal for Bill O'Brien, as he is taking over a 2-14 team and the Texans could not afford to play without Johnson. Johnson said that he wants to be back and that he is happy with everyone in the organization now after speaking to the head coach and the front office and he is ready to help turn the team around.

Johnson has played his entire career in Houston, but he is growing weary of the rebuilding and after going 2-14 last season, his frustrations have boiled over and now could be on his way out. Johnson has not demanded a trade, but he has not been at offseason workouts or any team activities and he made his feelings known in the media. Johnson wondered if Houston was still the place for him and while he wasn't demanding to be traded, he was frustrated about the lack of attention on the quarterback position this offseason. Now Johnson has reported to camp.

Johnson had nearly 1,600 yards last season and made 112 catches and he followed that with 109 catches for 1,407 yards this season and he has not missed a game in two years. The 49ers already traded for Steve Johnson, but this could add even more depth at a weak position. Johnson has been a good solider for his career and has never been one to complain, but as he gets to the latter stages of his career, he feels that it could be time to move on. The team traded away Matt Schaub this offseason and now the Texans are in at least a slight rebuild after taking Jadeveon Clowney number one.

"I feel very comfortable with where the organization is going," he added. "I think a lot of what I said in the offseason had to do with things that have happened over the past eight, nine years or so. Like I said, talking to Bill this offseason and the conversations me and him have had is all been positive."

Bill O'Brien is an offensive guru and a quarterbacks coach so he could mold Tom Savage, Case Keenum or Ryan Fitzpatrick into a Pro Bowl player, but right now Johnson is not swayed, but he is back and now the team is moving things in the right direction.
