The Chicago Bulls are in on the Kevin Love trade talks and with the Wolves looking at Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott as trade options, names like Andray Blatche, Elton Brand, Ramon Sessions, Mike Scott and Michael Beasley could be free agent targets to fill out the bench and if the team eventually pulls off the Kevin Love trade, they may need some depth options on the roster.
According to ESPN.com, the Chicago Bulls are heavy into the Kevin Love trade talks and if that doesn't work out, the team may look at the free agent market for some support. Pro Basketball Talk reports that Brand, Sessions, O'Neal, Beasley and Mike Scott could be potential options for the Bulls if the Love trade doesn't work out, but right now the team is still concentrating on trying to make a deal over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Chris Douglas-Roberts is a name to keep an eye on, as he is getting interest from other teams and could be a nice fit. Brand is still on the market and Blatche could be a pickup if the team needs to trade Gibson. Pau Gasol will be the top man in the middle for the Bulls, but they could use some depth behind him and that would give them a strong front line this season.
The Bulls have a number of option for the Timberwolves, including trading Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic in a package. Many think this is a better deal that what the Cavs are offering since they are more experienced players, but the upside in Andrew Wiggins may trump all that for the Timberwolves. The Bulls jumped back into the trade talks before last week and now both the Cavs and Chicago must wait, as they each signed their rookies to deals and cannot trade them for 30 days.
The Bulls are coming into the season with high expectations after losing in the playoffs, as they are getting Derrick Rose back and now have Pau Gasol in the fold as well. The team has added Aaron Brooks along with Kirk Hinrich and they also signed Doug McDermott after trading for him from the Nuggets during the draft. While McDermott has come up in trade talks, the Cavaliers still appear to be the top option for the Kevin Love deal and that likely means he is sticking around.
The team as is should be a very tough one to beat in the central, as the Bulls, Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers all will be battling for the division title. Brooks is a smart pickup for the team, as he can play point and support Rose when needed and he had a solid year last year while playing for the Nuggets and Rockets, averaging 9.0 points and 3.2 assists in a reserve role. The Bulls also kept Hinrich and he is a strong option off the bench and averaged 11.8 points and 5.2 assists last season in over 30 minutes per game and they are hoping to get that from him again this year. The Bulls also signed their second round pick Cameron Bairstow and that is another solid option for the bench.
