The Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Indians are playing live on the MLB schedule on Tuesday and the game to start the series from Progressive Field is at 7:05 pm ET and has Hisashi Iwakuma and Trevor Bauer playing and this is huge for both sides in the AL Wild Card, as the teams are trying to hang on and they each could use the win.
The Mariners come in desperate for a win, as they have lost every series they have had since the All-Star break and now they are back in the wild card after coming in at two games up. The offense has been terrible and the team has to find a way to score some runs and this week they could be pulling off some trades as the deadline approaches. Robinson Cano has been great, but he needs more help and now the team turns to Iwakuma to get things rolling and he has just eight walks all season this year and has been very good for the M's.
The pitching staff has been one of the best in baseball for the Mariners and now they have the chance to hit the road after a rough home stand. The team plays against the Indians and the last time they were here they lost three of four on walk-offs and that was terrible and after this series they head to Baltimore for big games against the Orioles. Carlos Santana comes into the game hitting well and he now has 13 games over his 40 game stretch since coming back from an injury and now Cleveland is looking to really get into the playoff race with some wins against the Mariners.
The Mariners have been horrendous since the beginning of the All-Star break and they were 2.5 games up coming into the break and are now out of it and if they don't score, they are done. The team is ranked near the bottom of the league in runs and batting average, but their pitching has been fantastic, ranking first in the league in ERA, WHIP and BAA this season. Now if they only could get some damn offense. The Mariners are looking to make deals and they have Felix Hernandez going on Tuesday and right now he is the frontrunner for the Cy Young, but he only has 11 wins after the Mariners blew it for him the last few starts.
