Tuesday morning, Chipper Jones was ahead of the All-Star Final Vote for the last available spot in the National League team.
By Tuesday afternoon Jones was named to the All-Star team after Matt Kemp became unavailable for the Mid-Summer Classic.
By the end of Tuesday night Chipper made sure he reminded people why he is a future Hall of Famer and, once upon a time, one of the most feared switch hitters in the game of baseball.
Chipper Jones and the Atlanta Braves faced the Chicago Cubs and he went completely nuts on them going 5-5 in the game. He finished the night with 2 doubles, 3 singles and 4 RBI as the Braves pummeled the Cubs 10-3.
For Chipper it was his 3rd career 5-hit game.
After being named to the 2012 All-Star game the third baseman will enjoy participating in his 8th Mid-Summer Classic.
Jones also stands 35th all-time in runs batter in his 20-year career, Jones has tallied up 1,594 RBI. He is only 1 Ribby behind Mike Schmidt.
He would need 40 RBI to be 30th all-time and surpass a gentleman by the name of Goose Goslin, who finished his career with 1,609.
The Braves currently find themselves five games out of first place trailing the Washington Nationals.
Chipper would love another ring before retiring, but the team will have to improve heavily if this is to happen before he retires.
Chipper has spent his whole career in Atlanta after being drafted No. 1 overall in the 1990 Amateur Draft.
