The Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs are playing live on the MLB afternoon schedule on Thursday and as the trade deadline winds down, the teams are playing at Wrigley Field at 2:20 pm ET and both could be involved in deals on this day, as the NL teams in this game are both way out of the playoff race and near the bottom of their divisions and leagues.
The Cubs come into the game 44-62 and the Rockies are one game worse in the loss column and now they will matchup as other teams try and make trades on Thursday. The Cubs come into the game after losing to the Rockies and they have been one of the worst teams in baseball this year and their offense has been a mes., The team is ranked near the bottom in all the major categories and they are looking to at least show some life in the second half of the season. The team is ranked 26th in runs and 28th in both batting average and on base percentage, while the pitching is ranked 18th in Era and they are looking to get things right heading into the series against the dodgers and that comes next and is on the road.
The Rockies come into the game with one of the best offenses in the league, but they have had terrible pitching and injuries and are way out of it. The team is first in batting average and slugging and third in on base and runs, but they are way out of the division race. The team plays against the Tigers next and that series will see the team matchup with Justin Verlander.
The Rockies have had people interested in Tulo and CarGo, but neither of those players likely will be traded. The two teams here have so many young players and are hoping they will turn out good and now they matchup on Thursday for the series finale.
