The Miami Heat still have free agent moves to make after signing Luol Deng and names like Chris Douglas-Roberts, Ray Allen, Shawne Williams, Greg Oden, Ramon Sessions and Chris Singleton could be potential targets to add to the roster along with Dwyane Wade and the officially signed Chris Bosh, as Pat Riley already has a deep bench with Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger and now could look at adding more.
According to the Miami Herald, the Heat have looked at adding Chris Douglas-Roberts as an option in free agency, while names like Ray Allen, Greg Oden and Michael Beasley are also in the mix to come back. Beasley has interest from the Lakers and Allen is getting chased hard by the Cavaliers to get him to team back up with LeBron James. Singleton has also been mentioned as a target and he has been also getting interest from the Indiana Pacers.
The team does not have the space to add Greg Monroe, but that could have been an option if the team lost Chris Bosh, as Marc Stein wrote that the Heat discussed putting in an offer sheet. That was scuttled quickly as things developed with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and now it looks like he will be on his way out of Detroit and possibly to the Suns or the Atlanta Hawks. Bosh and Monroe may have been able to play together, but Miami wanted to ensure that they had a deep bench and that is why they went the direction they did for this offseason.
Douglas-Roberts could be a solid option, as he showed last season that he is a strong shooter despite averaging just seven points last year. CDR could be a solid bench option and shouldn't cost much and he comes in after shooting over 40 percent and that could fit right in with Miami. The team lost LeBron, but they have Deng and he can help make up for some of that lost production as he goes to the Cavaliers.
The Miami Heat have made a number of free agent moves this summer, including adding Josh McRoberts, Luol Deng and Danny Granger and they also brought back Wade, Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole and Chris Andersen to give their team a strong core once again. The team also acquired Shabazz Napier and he could be a very good option along with Cole and Chalmers in the back court. The Miami Heat have the chance to be in the mix in the east and they have made some solid moves this offseason.
The team officially signed Chris Bosh to his deal and he is now in on a five year contract worth nearly $120 million and this comes after he came close to leaving for the Houston Rockets. ESPN.com reports that Bosh said that he was "close" to leaving the team and while he is disappointed that LeBron left for Cleveland, he is happy to be back in Miami. Bosh said he was uncertain about how things would play out and that is why he considered the Rockets deal and that was for a significant amount of money as well.
