The WTA Tour is live on Friday night with Serena Williams in the 2014 WTA Tour Bank of the West Classic and she is playing against Ana Ivanovic in the quarterfinals and it will be on ESPN and WatchESPN at 11 pm ET and comes as she has cruised in the tournament after he time at Wimbledon when she lost early and she is looking to get in shape heading into the major.
Williams had a bit of an odd finish at Wimbledon after her virus and now she looks back in form and she advanced in her last match in straight sets. The US Open is coming up in a month and Williams is looking to get back on track coming into the tournament and she now is looking to get to the semis after winning her previous match and she has a good record against Ivanovic.
Williams scuttled a little bit in the first set, but she was much sharper in the second and she got through while dropping two games in that set. Williams is feeling good coming into the tournament and she has a couple more heading into the Open and she has been strong on hard courts and she said that her vacation time helped get her back on track and her serve looked back to normal again.
Venus Williams was defeated in her match and she only won one game during her first set in the matchup before coming back in the second and eventually she lost the third set at 7-5 and now she is out of the tournament. Rafael Nadal is taking a break heading into the US Open to keep his wrist going okay, but there is also a chance that he could miss the US Open, although he said he should be ready to go.
