The New York Giants and Buffalo Bills are playing live on NBC for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Sunday night and the matchup from Fawcett Stadium in Canton Ohio at the HOF and is live streaming on the NBCSN Sports Live Extra website and it starts up at 8 pm ET as Eli Manning and company try to beat EJ Manuel in the first preseason game of the NFL season in 2014 after Michael Strahan and Andre Reed were enshrined in the hall.
Manning is looking to bounce back from a horrible season after throwing 27 interceptions and now the team is looking to learn a new offense from coordinator Ben McAdoo. The team will have five preseason games with the HOF game coming and this one will be played without Odell Beckham in the lineup for the G-Men while he is dealing with a hamstring injury. Manning likely will be in for about 15 plays or a couple series and likely will not last the first quarter, while players like Jerrel Jernigan and Andre Williams likely will get long looks with David Wilson and Beckham out for the game. Wilson is dealing with a neck injury that could potentially be serious, while Jernigan has high expectations for this season.
Even though the first game of the preseason doesn't see much time for the starters, football fans know that the 53 man roster is important from top to bottom and that means some of these players could be vital to the season. The defense and offense underwent immense changes in the offseason with McAdoo coming in and now the team has new starting corners with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Walter Thurmond joining Prince Amukamara.
The offensive line is also basically brand new, with Justin Pugh coming back and now Geoff Schwartz will be in at left guard along with Brandon Mosley and Charles Brown and they also have Will beatty coming back from an injury. The Giants need the offensive line to come back strong, as Eli Manning was on the run last season and rushing game was horrible and more consistent here could open up the offense for McAdoo.
The Giants are expecting major contributions from their young players this season and this is the start of that and names like Damontre Moore and Jonathan Hankins are expected to be major contributors. JPP is looking to bounce back after two down years while dealing with injuries and he is expected to have a big year and the defense needs to be strong again. Manning is looking to play well in the new offense and the team is looking to start off strong under McAdoo.
