NY Giants Rumors: David Wilson Career Likely Over As Rashad Jennings, Andre Williams Fantasy Football Starters 2014

The NY Giants are dealing with a major blow after losing David Wilson and his career now is likely over after dealing with a neck injury and that means Rashad Jennings, Andre Williams and Peyton Hillis are the main running backs for fantasy football owners to draft and start for the 2014 season, as Wilson is now on IR and he may never return to a football field.

According to ESPN.com, Wilson had spinal fusion surgery in January and he was set to come back this season and once he was cleared, he suffered an injury in training camp, sustaining a "burner" to his neck. After getting examined by doctors, the reports were not good and they said that he likely will never play football again. Now Jennings and Williams will be expected to step up and the Giants need them to do it, as their rushing attack was terrible in 2013.

The Giants new offense looked good on Sunday night and now they will need to keep that going this season for any chance at making the playoffs. The NY Giants earned a win on Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills in the Hall of Fame game to get the preseason started on the right track and now players like Andre Williams, Rashad Jennings and Peyton Hillis will be expected to step up and produce with David Wilson's injury problems and fantasy football owners will be wise to look at those players in drafts for the 2014 season.

Williams is a name to watch and he could be a sleeper if Wilson has neck problems during the season, as the rookie comes in after leading the nation in rushing last year for Boston College. Williams led the Giants in rushing in the Hall of Fame game and while that doesn't always mean much, this year it could be very telling of what the season brings and he had seven carries for 48 yards and a touchdown in the matchup.

The drive on the Williams run came on 12 plays and he was tops in carries with Peyton Hillis, who added 36 yards rushing for second on the team. Jennings is coming in as the expected starter and he had seven carries as well for 23 yards and he should be well suited for the new offense under Ben McAdoo. Jennings led the Raiders in rushing last season and he is very adept at catching passes out of the backfield and that could be big for owners in PPR leagues that draft him.

The Giants rushing attack was one of the worst in the league last season and they are hoping improvements can help Eli Manning in the passing game. Manning went six for seven in the game and lost a fumble and passed for 43 yards and he looked comfortable in the new up tempo offense. Williams had some nice plays throughout the game and he could be a major contributor this season if Wilson is out. The Giants also got some contributions from John Conner and Michael Cox and those players could get some carries this season if Wilson remains out.
