The Indiana Pacers are reeling from losing Paul George and now players mentioned in trade rumors this summer like Michael Carter-Williams, Dion Waiters, Kevin Martin, JJ Barea, Corey Brewer and Alexey Shved could be potential options for the team to replace George with, as the free agent market is looking thin and while some of these deals could be tough, the Pacers could jump in as the third team in the Kevin Love-Cavaliers-Timberwolves trade to snag a piece.
The Pacers lost their best player in Paul George and they may have no choice but to do something extreme to stay above water this season, as he will be out for likely the entire year. Some names that have come up in other trade talks and could be potential options for the Pacers include Michael Carter-Williams, Dion Waiters, Kevin Martin, JJ Barea, Corey Brewer as well as Iman Shumpert and JR Smith. While some of these deals are very unlikely and some are tied up in the Kevin Love trade, there is a chance something could go down for the team among these names.
Kevin Love has been mentioned the most in trade rumors this offseason and now his deal to the Cavaliers is all but done. The team has said that they are likely trading Love to the Cavs and now that Andrew Wiggins has his jersey off the team store, it's basically a done deal. The Wolves cannot pull off the trade for Wiggins until August 23, which is 30 days after he signed his rookie contract and that means there is more time for details to be worked out.
Names like Corey Brewer, Dion Waiters, Kevin Martin, JJ Barea and John Lucas have all been mentioned as options that could move as part of this deal and depending on who else jumps in, others could also be included. The Wolves have looked at Thaddeus Young as a trade target and these superstar deals often have tons of money moving around and that is why three teams often get involved. The Pacers and the Sixers might be able to help each other out given the recent events and it wouldn't be surprising if the four teams came together to work out something.
Michael Carter-Williams is likely not going anywhere for the Sixers, but the Pacers could make a great offer that blows the team away, while Dion Waiters is an interesting option to look at. Waiters has been mentioned in trade rumors since last season and while he was taken out of the Kevin Love deal for Wiggins and Anthony Bennett, Waiters was in the original deal for the Cavs.
The Cavaliers have some maneuvering to do if they want to get the deal with Love done, as the Wolves want to offload salary. The Sixers and the Pacers could somehow find a way to help things along, but unit's very unlikely now and the Pacers will have to find another way to make up for Paul George this season. The Cavaliers are getting Kevin Love, but now the real question is what teams will be involved and how many players and contracts in the deal.
