Wimbledon 2012 Results: Roger Federer Cruises Into the Semifinals

Jul 04, 2012 10:03 AM EDT

Roger Federer (3) cruised in his victory over Mikhail Youzhny (33) 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.

Federer never let Youzhny get comfortable in this match. Any small momentum that he built, Federer simply crushed.

Not even the rain was able to stop Federer's roll as he lead the first set 3-1 when the match was interrupted by inclement weather.

Youzhny was unable to get into the match and, therefore, was unable to celebrate, which was probably the best thing that could have happened, at least for his health.

Before the end of the first set, ESPN showed clips of Youzhny's violent celebrations. He once got so emotional he cut himself with his own racket and blood trickled down his forehead.

Coming into the match, Federer made his 33rd consecutive appearance in the Quarterfinal of a tournament.

He showed his dominance of the sport by eliminating any chance of Youzhny making a comeback.

Youzhny had some moments of brilliance in the second set, but they were futile. In the last set with the match out of reach, he competed and though unable to be a challenge, he provided entertainment for the fans as he fought through the games.

Federer simply outshined him in every aspect of the game and quickly nullified the thought of an upset.

Federer is now headed to the Semifinals where he awaits an opponent. Either David Ferrer (7) or Andy Murry (4) will have the displeasure of facing Federer.

Both players will take Centre Court now that this match has ended.
