The MLS Table Standings for 2014 in the Eastern and Western conferences into the All-Star break has the Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City leading the east and west in Major League Soccer, while teams like DC United, Toronto FC, Real Salt Lake, Los Angeles Galaxy and FC Dallas are all chasing and in the playoffs and they will look to remain as the second part of the season picks up.
The East standings has the champs in first place with Sporting Kansas City and they are tops over DC United and they have a large lead on the teams behind them. KC is leading with 38 points overall in 22 games, while DC has 37 points in 21 games and behind is Toronto at 29 points and that starts the bunch up, as the New York Red Bulls are just one point back and one point ahead of the Columbus Crew.
Those teams are in the playoffs in the east and they are in over the New England Revolution, Philadelphia Union as well as the Houston Dynamo. The bottom teams in the division are the Chicago Fire and Montreal Impact, but Chicago is still alive and they are tied with points with 22 with Houston. Sporting looks to be the favorites in the east, while DC is right there and has been playing very well.
The west has gotten much closer after the Seattle Sounders opened up with a big lead and now they have 38 points to stay in first place in the west. Real Salt Lake has 36 points in 22 games and that's two less than Seattle, while the LA Galaxy are next and they have played 19 games and they have 33 points. The playoff teams in the west have the Galaxy, Dallas and Colorado behind RSL and the Sounders, while the Whitecaps are close with 29 points.
Vancouver is sixth in the league in the west with 29 points and they are two over the Portland Timbers and have played one less game. The Timbers have 27 points and they are leading the San Jose Earthquakes and Chivas USA. As usual, the top five teams in the standings in each conference make the playoffs and right now the Sounders and Sporting KC are playing for the Supporters Shield.
