The last time the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks played each other, things went terribly wrong for the AFC stars. The Broncos could not have played worse while the Seahawks proved they were the best in the league winning the Super Bowl. However, 2014 is a clean slate and while the Broncos are not saying it out loud, they are looking for a little revenge after getting embarrassed. It all starts with the first game of the preseason.
Seattle head coach Pete Carroll told reports that he likes the idea of a fresh chance to chase a new NFL title. The football team made several adjustments in the offseason including locking down cornerback Richard Sherman for a multi-year deal. They also added wide receiver Golden Tate who should make an immediate impact. Fans will not see much of Russell Wilson in this game, but they will see a fun competition for his backup. Carroll has been singing the praises of Terrelle Pryor who was acquired in the offseason. He fits the style of Wilson much better, but Seattle wants to see what BJ Daniels can do as well.
"I'm really excited about this chance," said Carroll, via the Seattle Times. "This is the coolest opportunity. Everybody says that you can't - although they'll still call you the favorite to put the heat on you - but all that stuff about nobody's been able to do it for 10 years. To be able to play like we're capable of playing, that's all we want. If that's good enough, boom, we're there."
The Denver Broncos return having retooled some key spots on their roster. Peyton Manning is of course back under center. However, gone is wide receiver Eric Decker and running back Knowshon Moreno and in come Emmanuel Sanders and Montee Ball as the starting running back. Ball will not be seen in the preseason after suffering an injury, so Hillman is expected to start. The Broncos made some big moves on defense. They acquired TJ Ward in the offseason from the Cleveland Browns while also getting Aqib Talib after saying goodbye to Champ Bailey. The Broncos biggest weakness in the Super Bowl might have been their defense and the team certainly made the moves to upgrade that.
