The New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams are playing live on the NFL preseason schedule in Week 1 and the matchup comes from the Edward Jones Dome at 8 pm ET and has Drew Brees coming in with NO looking to have another massive season, while the Rams have Michael Sam in his professional debut and the matchup is live from the NFL Network.
The Saints are coming back after another prolific offensive season from Drew Brees and he has the chance up put up some monster stats with Sean Payton at the helm and while Darren Sproles is gone, the team added a huge weapon in Brandin Cooks in the draft. Jimmy Graham is back after his contract issues and he is making the claim of being the most dominant offensive player at his position after the numbers he has put up over the past couple years.
The Saints defense was a mess at times last season, but after adding Jairus Byrd in free agency and drafting Kenny Vaccaro last year the secondary has a chance to be dominant at safety. The Saints have a tough division with Carolina coming back as defending champs, but they are weaker on offense and that could be the opening for New Orleans and Brees.
Last year the Panthers had a dominant defense and they likely will again and the matchups with New Orleans will be one of the best offenses against one of the best defensive units. The Atlanta Falcons should be better this season after winning just a few games and they dealt with more injuries than anyone else last season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a new head coach and quarterback in Lovie Smith and Josh McCown and that gives the team a chance to bounce back as well.
