The Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers are playing live on the MLB schedule on Thursday afternoon and the matchup is on past 1 pm ET and has Francisco Liriano against Max Scherzer and it comes as the Seattle Mariners have tied the Tigers in the standings and they are now out of the AL Central lead and they need a big win here to stay up in the playoff race, as the M's are coming in next.
The Tigers have one of the best rotations in the league and now they have David Price and with Justin Verlander not at his best, Scherzer and Price need to step things up. The Tigers have been slumping lately and they need to get things together after falling out of the division lead. The team is ranked in the top five in runs scored, batting average, one base percentage and slugging and now things really need to pick up, as the Royals have been hot and so have been the Mariners.
The Pirates and Tigers now finish their interleague series before the Tigers welcome the Mariners and former player Austin Jackson back.
