NBA Trade Rumors 2012: Are The Lakers Done? Dwight Howard and Josh Smith Talks Circulate

With the Lakers acquiring Steve Nash from the Suns, it has fans calling LA's team a legit contender in the West, but it also leaves you wondering, do the Lakers have any other surprises up their sleeves?

The Nash trade seems legit, but other rumors are surfacing of a possible deal that will send Andrew Bynum to the Magic for Dwight Howard.

But wait there's more.

There's speculation that maybe Los Angeles is looking to add the services of the ultra-athletic "do it all" player, Josh Smith from Atlanta.

The move would turn the team into a quicker moving team both up and down the floor, would have Nash at the point dishing to two guys who are quick and agile, with Kobe and Smith. For this vision to become reality, however, this would call for the exchange of forward Pau Gasol for Smith of the Hawks.

While Gasol and Bynum are talents of championship caliber, they may not fit into this sort of run-and-gun offense that Nash, Kobe and the Lakers may be looking to utilize. The reason for this type of restructure only makes sense.

Look at the way both Miami Heat and OKC Thunder are built, quick style offense. Both teams made the Finals, with Miami capturing the title, and Oklahoma City appearing like repeat offenders coming out the West, and ultimately winning the championship.

With the Lakers adding Nash to Kobe, and possibly Josh Smith as well, it would be hard not to mark them down as NBA title contenders.

As of now these are rumors and speculations, but in the land that is Hollywood, even the biggest dreams can be made reality.
