Chelsea and Burley open their English Premier League season on Monday and the EPL match for the Blues is from Turf Moor at 3 pm ET and the game will be live from NBC on the NBC Sports Live Extra website online from NBCSN as the Blues start their season with Jose Mourinho leading the way.
Chelsea had a strong season last year and ended up in their place in the Premier League standings and now they have a chance to try and win an EPL title under Jose Mourinho. The team has been very strong in the past couple years, but they have not been able to get it together at the end and that's what happened last season. The Blues had chances last year to take hold of the top of the EPL table late, but they could not take advantage and now they are looking to have a strong start to the season against a newly promoted team.
The two teams will play again in February and Chelsea now comes in looking to start on the road strong and then they will return to Stamford Bridge and open things up there. Both teams are hoping to get off to a nice start and Chelsea has the chance to try and make a move this season, while Burnley is coming in looking to start the season well after getting promoted and the game on Monday night is their chance to start that off with a bang despite the fact that Chelsea has a number of new signings this year. Burnley comes back after being last in the EPL back at the end of the 2010 season and now they are back and if Chelsea falls in this game they should have some major questions, especially with Cesc Fabregas and striker Diego Costa coming in.
Fabregas was previously in the EPL and he has some experience at this stadium, as he scored the lone goal for Arsenal back in a 2009 draw and that could help him on Monday night. Fabregas said he was excited to get the season started and if he can score on a consistent basis, Chelsea could be one of the top teams this year. Manchester City dominated at the end of the season and they ended up winning over Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal at the top and things now are already starting to take shape.
Danny Ings is the player to watch for Burnley and Chelsea is coming in looking to avoid an upset performance here on the road. Last year he had over 20 goals and will be the main attacker for the team and if Chelsea can help to shut him down, the team should have a good chance to win. Didier Drogba could miss out depending on how his knee is feeling and now the two teams face off with Chelsea holding a nice unbeaten streak against the team. Chelsea has done an excellent job of winning their first game of the season each year and now they are looking to do the same.
