The Seattle Sounders and San Jose Earthquakes are playing live on the MLS schedule on Wednesday night and the match is streaming online and starts up past 10 pm ET from CenturyLink Field and this is a big game for the Sounders as they try and get back into the top part of the western conference standings with Real Salt Lake and they can bounce back with a win.
The Sounders have been leading the MLS in the west for most of the season and now Real Salt Lake is on top, but Clint Dempsey and company are looking to bounce back at home. The Earthquakes come into the game after a rough loss after going down 5-0 against Dallas this past weekend and now the team is trying to bounce back from that performance and they have one of the toughest teams in the league to do it against.
The Sounders have star power with Dempsey and now DeAndre Yedlin has been in the headlines and this is a last run for him, as he is now going to be with Tottenham following this season. The Sounders have six wins all-time in this series with San Jose and this will be the third time that they are playing this season and it comes after splitting the first two games and now the Sounders are in position to get back on track after their loss. The last game saw San Jose win in Cali, while Seattle won the game at home.
The Sounders have spent most of the year at the top of the table and they are looking to get back into that spot and they can do that with a win here against SJ. Real Salt Lake is now in the lead with 42 points in 24 games and they are playing very well now, while the Sounders have a lead over Dallas and the LA Galaxy. The Vancouver Whitecaps are in fifth place and they are leading the Portland Timbers by a slight margin and the Sounders know they have a tough conference chasing behind them in the standings.
The Sounders have hit a bit of a rough patch and they have done that on the road and that was the third loss in a row with a 2-1 score to Real to fall from first and now they rest in second place for the time being. Real jumped ahead in the second half and the Sounders could not find a way to get the game back even and it was the third in the last four games and now they have the chance to play at home. The team plays very well at the Link and the fans plan on being raucous again.
