The Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams are playing on the Week 4 NFL preseason schedule on Thursday night and the game from Sun Life Stadium is a big one for STL, as Michael Sam is trying to make the team and this gets started up at 7 pm ET and could be make or break for him as the 2014 season starts and he has been one of the best stories, while the Fins are coming off of an embarrassing year after all their scandals and their offense could be a mess once again.
The Rams defense was fantastic last season and it needs to be, as they play in the toughest division in the NFL with the Seahawks and 49ers as well as the Cardinals. Sam has played well in the preseason and he is trying to make the team and many think he will, as the Rams are not looking to be the first team to draft a gay player and then be the first team to cut an openly gay player. Sam has done enough and now he needs to lock it in with one more solid performance.
The Rams have the potential to be a playoff team, but that all likely is derailed now with Sam Bradford out unless the team makes a trade. Bradford was injured in the third preseason game, injuring the same knee that knocked him out for the year last season. Bradford now has his Rams future up in the air and the team has been linked to Mark Sanchez and other backup quarterbacks, as Shaun Hill is set to take over.
The Rams have to find a way to bounce back from the loss of Bradford and now not taking a QB high in the draft is a tough decision to look back on now. The team said that they are confident in Hill, but there is a good chance the team will not make the playoffs now. The team also has Sam and Jeff Fisher has given high praise for him this preseason. The Dolphins come into the game after winning their last two games of the preseason and they won over the Cowboys in the last game.
The team opens with a tough slate and they have a home game against the New England Patriots before playing against the Buffalo Bills on the road. The Chiefs are next on the schedule and then the team has to hit the road against the Oakland Raiders. The team then has a bye week and coming out of that they have three of five on the road and that includes games against the Bears and Jaguars after playing the Packers at home. The team also has matchups with the Lions and a road game against the Denver Broncos later in the season.
