Houston Rockets Rumors: Ricky Rubio Trade, Rajon Rondo, Goran Dragic Targets After Ramon Sessions Deal Fails?

The Houston Rockets have been mentioned in trade rumors this past summer with names like Rajon Rondo, Ricky Rubio, Goran Dragic and Kevin Love before he went to the Cavs and now they could pick back up on the first three players, as reports say the team is not trading for Ramon Sessions in a sign-and-trade deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, reports from a few days ago had the Rockets and the Bucks working out a deal for Sessions, but now it looks like it will not be happening. The Houston Chronicle reports that the Rockets now have limited interest in making a deal for Sessions and one reason could be that he is a free agent and they could sign him outright. The Rockets have a full roster right now and that means they may have to make some moves if they actually want him.

The Rockets traded Jeremy Lin in the offseason to the Lakers and now they would like some extra support at the guard position. The team likes Patrick Beverley at point guard and James Harden plays tons of minutes, so it might be hard for Sessions to get into the rotation anyway. Sessions is a smart option as a reserve player because he has tons of experience, but the Rockets also could look at making a bigger move into the season.

Last season the Rockets won over 50 games, but they ended up getting bumped out by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. The team lost Chandler Parsons to an offer sheet from the Mavericks and while the Rockets feel they will still be as good without him, they need to make up his offensive production. According to ESPN.com, Marc Stein writes that this season the Rockets may try to make a major move and this comes after they missed out on big name free agents like Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh this summer.

Stein wrote earlier in the summer that Daryl Morey has long been interested in Rondo and while Rondo is set to be a free agent soon, the team could trade for him at the deadline depending on how the season shakes out. Rondo would be the third star with Dwight Howard and James Harden and he would be a massive upgrade at the point guard position. Dragic also could be a fit and this comes as he is with the Suns and they have a glut of guards with Tyler Ennis and Eric Bledsoe likely coming back.

Rondo played in 30 games last season and had a solid run after coming back from ACL surgery, but the Celtics have not signed him long term yet. The team likely wants to see if he can stay healthy and they also want to see how this team is developing. If things start moving the right way, the team likely will sign him to an extension. Rondo may want to test free agency to make the most money, but that remains to be seen for now.
