Aug 30, 2014 07:52 PM EDT

The Texas Longhorns and North Texas start the Charlie Strong era for the Horns on Saturday night and the game is live at 8 pm ET from Royal Texas Memorial Stadium on the Longhorn Network and WatchESPN website for the TV and live stream coverage online and this is a chance for Texas to open with a win after their disappointment last season.

The Longhorns come into the game looking to get off to a good start as they compete in the Big 12 and now they are playing an easy opponent to start the season before another home game with BYU. The team then has UCLA and that is the first big test of the year and that will be at a neutral location and they are ranked in the top 10 to start the season. The team has Kansas on the road after that and then they have a very big stretch and that includes Baylor and Oklahoma and they are both in the top 10 to open the season.

That is a very tough stretch and that will be the biggest test for Charlie Strong and the back end of the season has Iowa State at home and then Kansas State on the road. The Wildcats are ranked and that starts a stretch of three road games in four matchups with K State and then Texas Tech. The team is home with West Virginia and then plays on the road against Oklahoma State and then the team ends with TCU and they are looking to have a major bounce back season. The Big 12 has some tough teams this year and Texas is hoping to get into the rankings with some wins in those games.
