The Washington Redskins signed DeSean Jackson as a free agent and now he joins Pierre Garcon and Jordan Reed as the top fantasy football draft options for Robert Griffin III along with Alfred Morris, as he is expected to have another big season as RG3 bounces back from dealing with injuries and an overall disappointing 2013.
The Redskins are coming back with a new head coach in Jay Gruden and that could be exactly what Griffin needs to bounce back after dealing with injuries. DeSean Jackson gives Griffin another major target and the Redskins have a great set of wide receivers now with Santana Moss, Pierre Garcon, Jackson and Leonard Hankerson. Jackson and Garcon could be the best duo in the NFC East and Jackson will be motivated to play well against his old team when the Redskins play the Eagles.
Jordan Reed is a major sleeper as long as he stays healthy, as he showed last season that he is an athletic tight end that can make plays down the field. Garcon is more valuable than Jackson in PPR leagues, but Jackson likely will end up in the endzone more. Griffin has the chance to really bounce back after Mike Shanahan was fired and as long as he stays healthy, the Redskins have the chance to make the playoffs. Jackson is coming into the season after a career year with 82 catches for 1332 yards and nine touchdowns and he should be in line with that this season.
Garcon and Jackson should put up good numbers and Garcon is coming off of a career year himself after making 113 catches for 1346 yards last season. Garcon gives the team a strong weapon in the passing game and he showed last season that he will make tough plays across the middle and he also stayed healthy for the first time since his Colts days. Santana Moss is an option in deeper leagues and he could be a good WR4 or flex option after making 42 catches for 452 yards last season. Moss has been solid and steady in his years with the Redskins and he has been healthy each of the last two seasons, playing in all 16 games.
Reed is the main sleeper of this bunch and he has the chance to be a solid TE1 option this year after breaking out last season. Reed played in only nine games, but he had 45 receptions for 499 yards and if he can stay healthy, he should be a major target for Griffin. TE players can benefit when the QB is on the run a lot and even if Griffin learns to play in the pocket more, Reed should be one of the players he looks to. Alfred Morris is a major start player and he comes in after two fantastic seasons and he should be in line for another strong year.
Morris comes in after rushing for 1275 yards last season with seven touchdowns and that came after he rushed for over 1600 yards as a rookie. Morris is looking like one of the best young backs in the league and he scored 13 touchdowns his rookie season and the addition of Jackson should only open up the running game. The NFC East is always a tough division and this year the Eagles are expected to be strong and the Giants and Cowboys are both looking to bounce back after missing the playoffs.
