The Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians are playing live on the MLB schedule on Thursday in their series finale and the game is on at 7:05 pm ET and has Max Scherzer against Trevor Bauer as these two Al Central teams try to stay in the playoff race and neither can afford to lose more down the stretch, as the Mariners are on the heels of Detroit in the wild card now.
Max Scherzer has been the ace for the Tigers and he needs to sharpen up after having a bad start and that was against the White Sox and now the Tigers need to take care of business in the finale of this series with the Indians. Last season Cleveland hung around enough to get into the second wild card and now the Tigers are hoping to stay there and Cleveland is looking to stick around again.
Michael Brantley has been fantastic this season for the Indians and they have been on a good streak, only losing seven of the last 21 games and they are looking to keep things going. The Indians and Tigers know that more division games are ahead and now that things are in September, wins are at a premium. The Tigers need Scherzer to continue pitching well with Justin Verlander not up to his usual standards. Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez need to heat up to get the Tigers in and this should be a solid matchup.
