The Philadelphia Eagles have a number of fantasy football starter options for Week 1 and names like Darren Sproles, Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper and Jordan Matthews all could be great for QB Nick Foles, while names like Zach Ertz and Josh Huff are also solid, but that first group should perform better in this opening matchup against the Jaguars and some could be sleepers for this whole season, especially in PPR leagues.
The team has one of the best RB duos in the league with Sproles and LeSean McCoy and while McCoy is a production beast, Sproles should be able to find a place in this offense as well. Sproles is a PPR MVP and in an offense like this, he should have at least 50 catches this season. Cooper comes in after his best season and Jeremy Maclin is returning and they both have the chance to replace DeSean Jackson as the top receiver in the offense.
The Eagles have a deep roster and one reason is because of the draft picks of Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff, who played at Oregon and knows Kelly well. Matthews looks to be perfectly suited to this offense, as he has speed and size and showed in college that he can make tough plays while under heavy coverage. Ertz has the chance to be a solid tight end behind Brent Celek and there is a chance he could end up as the TE1 by the time the season is over. Ertz is a solid deep option and Sproles should be an amazing fit for the Chip Kelly offense with his receiving skills.
Nick Foles had a great season last year after taking over the starting position and he has shown that he can take care of the ball and put up solid numbers. Foles had 27 touchdowns and just two picks last season and he was very accurate as well, going for over 63 percent of his passes. All the receivers in the offense have the chance to be solid fantasy players, with Cooper and Maclin above the rest and Maclin only if he can stay healthy.
Maclin is coming into the season after tearing his ACL last year and he is the biggest question mark for the team for the time being, as they think he is 100 percent but until he gets out on the field and plays in a real game and not the preseason, they don't really know for sure. Maclin had been trending the right way in his career into last season when Chip Kelly took over, but his injury ended up pushing back his introduction to the new offense.
Maclin missed the entire season and now he is back on a one year deal and is looking to rebound after dealing with all the missed time. Two years ago Maclin had 69 catches for 857 yards and five touchdowns and that came after three very productive seasons and he looked ready to breakout. Maclin had his best year in 2010 when he had 70 catches for 964 yards and 10 touchdowns and over the next two tears he put together solid seasons with 63 and 69 catches along with 859 and 857 yards receiving.
