Matthew Berry Fantasy Football Love Hate Week 1 ESPN Expert Ranks

Matthew Berry is the fantasy football expert at ESPN and he released his love hate ranks for Week 1 and he has some very interesting picks, including Antonio Brown, Montee Ball, Cordarrelle Patterson and Colin Kaepernick as well as Jay Cutler, Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Ben Roethlisberger, Frank Fore, Reggie Bush and Doug Martin among others.

Berry has become the go-to man at ESPN for fantasy advice and he has shown over the past few years that he makes some very wise predictions and picks, especially with his love-hate column. For a quick example, a couple years ago I was deciding between two players over the final weeks of the season to put in at WR and Berry had one in the hate column and one in the love column and guess what? The love player helped me win my fantasy league. Now that doesn't mean Berry is infallible, but he puts care and thought into his picks and here is a look at some for Week 1.

The first week has a number of QBs that Berry loves and he actually put in Russell Wilson and that started things off well, as he had a solid game on Thursday night. Berry also picked Marshawn Lynch in the running backs and he had a strong game against the Packers, starting off with 110 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

Colin Kaepernick was listed as one of the QBs to love and he has a nice matchup with the Dallas Cowboys to open the season. Dallas has a terrible defense and they ranked near the bottom of the league in passing and rushing yards last season. The Niners D is hurt and missing some players, so Colin knows that he will have to be on the top of his game and should step up. He has Stevie Johnson along with Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis as well as Frank Gore and that could make for a shootout on Sunday.

Montee Ball and Cordarrelle Patterson are players that Berry likes and they have the chance to be very solid along with Brown this week. Patterson is now the top receiver for the Vikings and he showed some promise last year, while Ball moves up with Knowshon Moreno out. Ball has the chance to put up big numbers in that offense, while Brown now has the chance to be the top dog again with Emmanuel Sanders and Mike Wallace out of Pitt over the past two years.

Berry usually makes some solid picks and this week it is a good time to check out his thoughts on the upcoming season. Berry also likes Reggie Bush this week and he could be solid as he is playing against the Giants and they could be a bad team this year.
