The Miami Heat continues to heat up this off season as trade rumors continue to speculate around the polarizing organization.
In addition to having already agreed to a contract with Ray Allen, the team is reportedly interested in bringing in veteran forward Rashard Lewis to give the team another shooter and a big body.
In the last three seasons, two spent with the Washington Wizards, Lewis has only played in 85 games. During these seasons he averaged 10.4 points per game, down from his career average of 16.1 points per game.
Lewis, 33, was let go by the New Orleans Hornets and is expected to receive a $13.8 million buyout this season. If signed by the Heat, Lewis would have to settle for taking the veteran's minimum and adding that to the buyout.
Miami in the finals made clear how dangerous they would be given more open outside looks. Sharp shooting from Mario Chalmers, Mike Miller, and Shane Battier gave proof to that testament.
Lewis shoots 38.8 percent from downtown and would only be asked to play a small role, and that's spacing for the Heat offense. He'd also be expected to provide a scoring boost off the bench and grab rebounds off the boards, all while playing solid defense.
If the Heat can add Lewis it would make a ton of sense for Miami and would also make sense for Lewis, as he would make $15 million and have a great shot at a championship.
