Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit from a woman who was seen in leaked pictures of Jones on Twitter last month and the incident involving Jana Weckerly allegedly took place in 2009 according to Deadspin and Pro Football Talk.
PFT reports that Jones has been accused of sexual assault and the issue at hand is connected to photos that leaked online of Jones with multiple women in what appeared to be a hotel room. Jones's lawyer said to Pro Football Talk in a statement that the allegations of assault are false and that the lawsuit is a "shakedown" and it was also described as a "money grab". Photos of Jones leaked last month and he said at the time that they were misrepresentations of what happened that night.
Jana Weckerly has filed the suit against Jones and the Cowboys and Deadspin has details about the alleged incident, which include Weckerly accusing Jones of touching her inappropriately and forcing to watch him receive oral sex. Weckerly also claims that the Cowboys and Jones "bullied" her into signing a nondisclosure agreement about things and made her think she would be in trouble if she did not do it. The photos released showed Jones in some interesting positions, including grabbing a woman around the chest and also smiling with a woman down near his crotch.
SI.com writes that Weckerly is a former exoitic dancer and the suit is asking for more than $1 million and the lawyer for Jones has said the entire lawsuit is frivilous. Jones has been in the news leading into the season, including as the center of a big profile from ESPN the Magazine and he also was looked at as the man who wanted to draft Johnny Manziel, but let his football people make the final decision. Jones likely will make this go away, but it's definitely not a great headline, but during all the Ray Rice business, it probably will just hide out.
The Cowboys have been very mediocre since winning their last Super Bowl, going even over that span and they are coming off of an 8-8 season. The team lost to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday to start 0-1 for the season.
