Heading into Week 2 some of the top fantasy football free agents to pick up and add to teams include Allen Hurns, Ahmad Bradshaw, Alfred Blue, Niles Paul, Greg Jennings, Markus Wheaton, Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell as well as Brandin Cooks among many others, as those players could step up this week big time and could be the key to winning matchups for fantasy owners.
Heading into the weekend all the names mentioned above could be solid options, as Niles Paul is likely to get some major looks since Jordan Reed will be out. The Redskins need their TE position to step up for RG3 and it could be his name called on Sunday. Cordarrelle Patterson showed what he can do with the Vikings and that means Greg Jennings should have more open looks going forward. Jennings is a veteran and a smart player and he could continue putting up solid numbers in the new offense with the Vikings from Norv Turner.
Arian Foster is looking good this season, but he has had major injury issues in the past and if those come up again, Alfred Blue is a player to watch. Ben Tate is now with the Browns and he is dealing with some injury issues of his own, making Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell smart pickups. West was productive on Sunday coming in for Tate and he could do it again, while Cooks was a breakout player for Week 1 and could be a major sleeper the rest of the way with the Saints.
Bradshaw could be good as long as he stays healthy, as the Colts have Trent Richardson but also need their RB2 to step up in this offense. Markus Wheaton has emerged as a solid threat with the Steelers and he now is the number two option behind Antonio Brown. Hurns was the name that broke big on the first Sunday of the season, as he had four catches for 110 yards and two TDs and while he may not last, he could be a solid pick up until Cecil Shorts is back and while the Jags suck, someone has to catch the ball from Chad Henne.
Alfred Blue is only a smart pickup if Foster gets hurt and that very well could happen soon. Blue is an option in very deep leagues and there is a chance he could end up as the backup for Arian Foster at some point. With Reed out, Paul could be a very solid option and he comes in after making four catches for over 80 yards in the opening game of the season. Reed could be out a few weeks and that makes Paul a strong pickup in deep leagues.
Bradshaw had just three rushes for 15 yards, but he could be in for a bigger role as long as he remains healthy. Richardson is the number one, but Bradshaw has been a solid runner in his career and while he played in just three games last season, he had 1015 yards his last season starting in the league. Jennings showed age is overrated, as he had six catches for 58 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Patriots for the Vikings. Jennings played in 15 games last season and had 68 catches for over 800 yards and he could be in line with that again.
