NBA Free Agency: Boston Celtics Re-Sign Jeff Green to a Four-Year $36 Million Deal

The Boston Celtics have reached a new deal to re-sign forward Jeff Green to a four-year extended contract, worth $36 million.

Green joined the Celtics in February of 2011 through a trade that sent Kendrick Perkins to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Green, drafted the same season as Kevin Durant, was a very good player for Oklahoma City. He was very much a big part of the team's future before being traded.

Green averaged 37 minutes per game and 15.2 points with 5.2 rebounds before the trade to Boston.

His stats dropped after entering the Celtic line-up, only averaged 23.5 minutes per game and 9.8 points with 3.3 rebounds per game.

Green missed the entire 2011-12 season for the Celtics after being diagnosed with a heart condition, eventually leading to heart surgery.

Green remains to be a versatile forward who can score in the post and on the perimeter.

Danny Ainge, Boston GM, continues to hope Green would add another dimension to the Celtics offense.

Boston managed to reach the Eastern Conference finals without Green and took the Miami Heat to seven games before being eliminated. It's no question that the athletic forward can stretch the floor and help give the Celtics a boost to make a deeper playoff run next season.
