Fantasy Injury Players Week 2: Alshon Jeffery, Doug Martin, Jordan Reed, Andre Ellington, Toby Gerhart, Cecil Shorts

The fantasy football Week 2 matchup schedule is getting ready to start and some injury players to be aware of include Alshon Jeffery, Doug Martin, Jordan Reed, Andre Ellington, Toby Gerhart, Cecil Shorts, Adrian Peterson and Brandon Marshall heading into the weekend and those names could have their statuses up in the air heading into game time.

Doug Martin comes in with a knee injury and that could make Mike James and Bobby Rainey options to start if he can't go, while DeAngelo Williams is another back that may not be able to play this weekend. Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall are coming in with injuries and the Bears cannot afford to lose them for longer and that is one reason why they may not play this weekend in the game against the 49ers. Jordan Reed has already been ruled out for this weekend and now the Redskins may have him out for a couple weeks, while Andre Ellington is coming in on the injury report as well for the Cardinals.

Ellington is expected to play, but fantasy owners should keep an eye on the situation in case the Cardinals hold him out. Toby Gerhart and Cecil Shorts are banged up for the Jaguars and could miss time and that gives Allen Hurns another chance to have a solid game after he had two touchdowns last weekend. Hurns ended up as the fantasy pickup sleeper of the week, as he had four catches for over 100 yards and two TDs and as long as Shorts is out, he is a solid option to step up, especially in deeper leagues.

Adrian Peterson missed some practice but he is expected to go can be fine, while Arian Foster is in the same boat and he is expected to play. Foster is dealing with a rib injury that he said is not serious and that means he likely will be in the starting lineup along with Peterson for their teams. The Bears are keeping close tabs on Marshall and Jeffery and there's a chance at least one of them will be out. Marshall has a sore ankle and Jeffery is dealing with a hamstring and while Marshall has said that he should be available, the team may hold Jeffery out.

Marshall and Jeffery are two of the best receivers in the league and the Bears need to have the two of them in action to be successful. The two combined for 19 touchdowns last season and Marshall had 12 of those, while Jeffery had his best season in his career. The two want to play and with a road trip against the Niners coming, the Bears need them to play.

Martin was wildly productive as a rookie, but he is coming off of a season where he missed most of the year and now he is dealing with another injury. Martin had just nine rushes for nine yards in the first game this season before leaving with an injury and that could give way to Rainey if he is out. The Bears are keeping their eyes on the injury report and so are fantasy owners and Ellington is a player to watch, as he has a nice matchup with the Giants this weekend and looked good on Monday against the Chargers.
