The LA Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are playing an NL West division game on the MLB schedule on Friday night in Northern California and the game starts at 10:15 pm ET from AT&T Park with Hyun-Jin Ryu against Madison Bumgarner.
The matchup is very important for the National League west division and the wild card and this series could decide the division race with a just few weeks left. Bumgarner is having a great season and he has won 17 games and has a 3.02 ERA this season and Ryu also has been pitching well, putting up a 14-6 record and a 3.16 ERA this year. Bumgarner can take the major league lead in wins this season and he has been in these situations before and the matchup comes after a sweep of the Giants by LA over a month ago.
Ryu, Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw all got wins against the Giants in that series sweep and they are what is powering the Dodgers this season. The Dodgers come into the game after a win over the Padres and Dan Haren got a win in that game and now they will have Greinke on the mound on Saturday against Tim Hudson. The Dodgers need to keep things going with the Giants playing well and now they have the chance to push San Francisco out of the division race this late in the season.
The Dodgers have been hitting the ball well and they are ranked fifth in the league in batting average and third in on base percentage. The pitching has been fantastic for the Dodgers and they are ranked in the top five in ERA, WHIP and batting average against and they also are second in quality starts. The San Francisco Giants are also playing well and they are ranked in the top 10 in batting average and slugging percentage and the pitching is also ranked in the top 10 across the board in ERA, quality starts and WHIP.
