Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of sealing a move for Emmanuel Adebayor, with Spurs agreeing a £6 million ($9.2 million) fee with Manchester City.

Spurs will also reportedly make Adebayor the highest-paid player at Spurs; the former Arsenal striker will earn around £100,000 a week ($155,000).

Adebayor has one year remaining in his current contract with City, where he earns £170,000 a week ($263,000). The forward spent the entire last season on loan with Sours, with City contributing £100,000 ($155,000) of his weekly wage. Spurs are also set to offer Adebayor a massive signing-on fee to compensate for the lower wages.

Adebayor was a hit at White Hart Lane last season, scoring 17 goals, and is keen to continue at Spurs.

The departure of Adebayor will also clear up a space for City to bring in Robin Van Persie from Arsenal.

The Dutch striker has stated he will not sign a new contract and, with just one year remaining on his current deal, Arsenal will be forced to sell him or see him walk away for nothing at the end of next season.

City are reportedly lining up a £20 million ($31 million) offer with the 28-year-old receiving a massive wage increase. Van Persie will be reportedly offered nearly £250,000 a week wages ($347,000).

Meanwhile, newly-promoted West Ham United are close to agreeing a deal for Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga for £4.5 million ($7 million). The Hammers look to have beaten completion from the likes of Stoke City and Reading for the forward's signature.

Stoke are close to sealing the deal for Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo defender Geoff Cameron. Stoke have reportedly agreed $3 million fee for the 26-year-old.

Another MLS player reportedly on his way to England is Marco Pappas of Chicago Fire, with Wigan Athletic lining him up as a potential replacement for Victor Moses.

Moses is expected to leave the club, with Chelsea heading the list for his signature. Arsenal and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest for the forward, who has just one year remaining on his contract with Wigan.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is also looking to bring in Watford defender Adrian Mariappa for a fee believed to be around £3 million ($4.6 million).

Roy Hodgson's former club West Bromwich Albion are close to agreeing a deal for Yasinne El Ghanassy, after the Gent winger met West Brom officials on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Peter Lovenkrands signed a two-year contract with Birmingham City after his release from Newcastle United. "He did very well for Newcastle, has scored goals at this level and he played a huge part in getting them promoted from this division, actually winning the league," Birmingham coach Lee Clark told the club's official website.

"People I have spoken to about him have been very impressed. He had a good pedigree at Rangers scoring Champions League goals and we are looking forward to adding him to the squad.

"When I spoke to him about the move he made a decision very quickly.

"Once we got an agreement, he's bringing his family down, moving to the area, doing that very, very quickly as well so it shows you he's very committed to the job in hand and that can only be good for us and the supporters.

"I have got to see him quite a bit and he's a very popular guy as well. He has a good work ethic and he ticked all the boxes for me in terms of not just being a good player but by being a good character."
