NY Knicks Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Favors Iman Shumpert, Amar'e Stoudemire for Triangle Offense, Greg Monroe, Rajon Rondo, Marc Gasol Top Free Agent Targets

Carmelo Anthony admitted the obvious; he was frustrated with the New York Knicks last season. In what was supposed to be a championship-contending season, the Knicks failed to make the postseason and ended Anthony's playoff streak. However, the hired Phil Jackson to take over as team president and Derek Fisher to be the new head coach getting the guard excited for the future of the franchise.

Anthony's excitement stems from the success of Jackson's triangle offense which the team is expected to run. Both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant thrived in the system and Anthony is hoping he does as well. Anthony decided to re-sign with the Knicks in free agency despite their lack of offseason moves, but he believes in Jackson, Fisher's offense and the long-term plans New York has.

"Without a doubt, without a doubt. When people say spots, I'm going to be all over the floor in the triangle," Anthony said, via ESPNNewYork.com. "It makes it hard to guard, it keeps all eyes off of you. I'm looking forward to it, I've been saying it all summer. I can't wait."

Anthony is not hiding the fact that he was irritated with the way the Knicks' 2013-14 season panned out. The team failed to make it into the Eastern Conference playoff race while looking like they essentially gave up on the year. As a result, several changes were made in the front office and now Anthony has a little drive back in him. The guard lost weight in the offseason in order to remain healthy for the season and has already been getting to work with his teammates.

"I was angry," Anthony said. "I haven't been broadcasting it, man. But I've been at the facility for the last couple of weeks with the young guys, with the coaches, trying to figure out that triangle offense."

The Knicks roster remains relatively the same heading into the 2014 season. Jackson managed to pull off one big trade, sending Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Jose Calderon and Samuel Dalembert. The move gives the Knicks an upgrade at the point guard position and gets rid of Chandler's salary cap-killing contract. Now, the Knicks will set their focus to 2015, favoring free agents like Greg Monroe and Rajon Rondo.
