Chicago Bears Rumors: Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery Fantasy Status For Week 3 As Santonio Holmes Smart WR Pick Up

Sep 16, 2014 01:05 PM EDT

The Chicago Bears had WRs Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery healthy for Sunday night against the 49ers after they both showed up on the injury report and while they should be active for Week 3, fantasy football owners should look at Santonio Holmes as the top pick up option in case one of the names can't go for Monday night football.

According to Pro Football Talk, both Marshall and Jeffery should be ready to go for Week 3, as the Bears have an extra day off with the game coming on Monday night football. Jeffery and Marshall both played on Sunday night against the 49ers in the comeback win for the Bears and their offense goes as those two go, so Marc Trestman is hoping that both can remain healthy through the week and into game night.

Jeffery had only three catches for 47 yards on six targets and he should be better next week with another six or seven days of rest for his injury. Marshall showed toughness by playing through his injury and he had a fantastic one handed catch that helped the Bears get back into the game and he ended up with five catches for 48 yards and three touchdowns and he already is putting together a solid season. Marshall has 13 catches for 119 yards and four touchdowns already this season and he is looking to start on Monday night as long as he doesn't have any setbacks.

For any fantasy owners worried about those players, Santonio Holmes is the top pick up option for the Bears. While Holmes only had two catches for 20 yards and was a hot pick before the game due to the injuries, he could be a factor going forward if one of the WRs goes down. Fantasy owners should give themselves a backup plan and Holmes also has shown that he can return kicks as well and he may be used in that capacity this season.

According to Pro Football Talk, both Jeffery and Marshall were active on Sunday night, but those came as game time decisions, as the two starters were dealing with injuries stemming from last weekend's loss to the Bills. Marshall had an ankle injury, while Jeffery was dealing with a hamstring injury and while both players were not 100 percent for the game, head coach Marc Trestman had them on the active roster.

Marshall made a pretty touchdown catch and Jeffery looked healthy through the game and now fantasy owners should keep an eye on the injury report for Week 3 in case anything else comes up. Marshall had a massive game and any owners that sat him down likely regretted that decision right away, as he looked dominant and showed no signs of being hobbled by his injury.

Marshall had a heck of a game for the Bears and put up some massive fantasy points with three touchdown receptions on five catches for 48 yards and that helped the Bears in their comeback win. Marshall made a very nice one handed touchdown grab as the first half ended and that was huge for the Bears as they made their comeback against the Niners in the second half.
