MLB Playoffs Standings: Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals Clinch East Division In AL and NL For Postseason

The MLB Playoffs are starting to get set and the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles have now clinched postseason berths after winning on Tuesday, with the O's taking the AL East division crown and the Nats winning the NL East division for the second time in three seasons, joining the LA Angels in the 2014 playoffs.

The Angels have already clinched a playoff spot and now the Orioles and Nationals are in as division winners, taking the National League and American League East divisions. The Baltimore Orioles won over the Blue Jays at home to snap their division drought dating back to 1997 and it came in an 8-2 rout with Steve Pearce hitting a homerun and Ubaldo Jimenez recording the win.

The Nationals continued their dominance over the Atlanta Braves with a 3-0 shutout victory for their second NL East division title in three years and now they have 87 wins on the season. Tanner Roark won the game over Aaron Harang and Drew Storen got the save and Ian Desmond hit a homerun and now the Nats are in the playoffs for the second time since moving to DC.

The Orioles have been leading the AL East by a wide margin for a while now and they have clinched the title ahead of the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays, who are double digit games back. The Orioles won their ninth AL East title and it was a long time coming for Baltimore fans, who have not won the division in over a decade. The team is rolling towards the playoffs with their ninth win in 10 games and now they are into the playoffs for the second time in three years following 14 seasons of losing.

The Braves won things last year and now the Nationals got to celebrate on their field as they clinched their second title in three seasons. The Nationals have been called a World Series favorite and the Chesapeake Bay area is getting a big push for the playoffs.
