The Oakland Raiders have lost two games, but they have solid fantasy football options for Week 3 with Darren McFadden starting over Maurice Jones-Drew and other options for Derek Carr on Sunday include Mychal Rivera, Rod Streater, Denarius Moore and Latavius Murray, as the team is dealing with some injuries and needs players to step it up.
McFadden will be the starter for the Raiders on Sunday and he has been the lead back so far for the team with 16 catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. McFadden had a great season in 2010, but he has not been able to match that since and with Jones-Drew hobbled, he has the chance to be the prime feature back again. Jones-Drew had hand surgery and he could be limited for Week 3 and while he said he is optimistic about playing, he likely will be backing up McFadden.
The Oakland Raiders lost again on Sunday, but fantasy football owners got a nice boost from James Jones and now Derek Carr has a new WR target to throw to, as the team signed free agent Vincent Brown following the injury to Rod Streater and that could really help open up the offense for Carr as well as running backs Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew.
Jones showed off his skills on Sunday with nine catches for 112 yards and a touchdown and he could really be the number one receiver now for the Raiders. The team is not deep at wide receiver with Denarius Moore and Streater as the best options along with Jones and now Brown gives the team another solid receiver to throw to. According to Pro Football Talk, the Raiders signed Brown to a one year deal after he was released by the Chargers following an injury.
Brown did not play in the preseason this year and now he joins the Raiders after the team fell to 0-2 Sunday against the Houston Texans. Streater was injured in that game and that is one reason why the Raiders wanted to add depth at the position. Pro Football Talk reports that the Raiders likely feel that Streater will miss an extended period of time with the hip flexor injury and that gives Brown a chance to make an impact alongside Jones and Moore. Last season Brown had a solid year with 41 catches for 472 yards while playing in all 16 games and the year before that he had 19 catches and two touchdowns.
Streater has not missed a game in his career and he is coming off of his best season with 60 catches for 888 yards and four touchdowns. This season Streater had one score and six catches for 52 yards before going down with the injury. Jones had over 800 yards last season despite missing two games and he had more catches last season with 59 than all but one season in his career. McFadden and Jones-Drew have been off to slow starts and the Raiders offense could use some consistency from the running game. McFadden has 52 yards, while Drew has just 11 yards on nine carries.
