The Jacksonville Jaguars have a number of injuries for Week 3 and that means Allen Robinson could be the best fantasy football start for the team, as WRs Allen Hurns, Cecil Shorts and Marqise Lee are all hobbled along with RB Toby Gerhart and that means QB Chad Henne could have a new favorite target in Robinson when the team plays against the Indianapolis Colts.
Hurns has been a nice surprise with Cecil Shorts out and while the Jaguars have struggled, some of their players have been able to put up numbers for fantasy owners, but they are getting hit by the injury bug. According to Pro Football Talk, the team likely will be without Marqise Lee on Sunday and this comes after Shorts was out for two games and Mercedes Lewis was placed on IR. The team has Hurns also dealing with an ankle injury and if Shorts can't go again, it makes Allen Robinson the top option for Chad Henne in the offense.
Pro Football Talk reports that Shorts is ready to go on Sunday and Shorts himself said that he plans on playing the entire game on Sunday against the Colts. Shorts comes in after having a very solid season last year and while he is on the Jaguars, he has shown that he can be a string fantasy football option. Shorts missed time during the summer in OTA workouts and also in training camp and now he looks to be ready for his NFL debut. Chad Henne was sacked a number of times last week and he has been nabbed 13 times and adding some more offensive weapons will help avoid that fate again.
Denard Robinson is another solid pickup with all the injuries, but only in deeper leagues since it's the Jaguars after all. The team may end up using Blake Bortles soon and he could be a smart pickup for teams in need of QB help, but for anyone looking for a WR right now and is desperate, Robinson could end up a since surprise against the Colts. Robinson has been off to a slow start with just five catches for 75 yards in two games, but he has the chance to step up even if Shorts plays with Lee out.
Hurns is listed as probable for the game on Sunday and even if he plays, Shorts and Robinson likely will get the most looks for the team. Last season Shorts set a career high with 66 catches and he had 777 yards and three touchdowns and now he is looking to get back on the field. Shorts was solid the season before that with 55 catches for nearly 980 yards and he had a career high seven touchdowns in 2012.
Lee is out for the game on Sunday against the Colts with a hamstring issue and that gives Robinson a chance to step up. Lee has eight catches for 73 yards this season and he has the potential to be a very solid number three option moving forward once he is healthy.
