Los Angeles Lakers News: Owner Jerry Buss Hospitalized

Jul 10, 2012 04:38 PM EDT

The Los Angeles Lakers' owner, Jerry Buss was hospitalized suffering from dehydration.

Lakers' publicist, John Black said Buss was recovering and should be released from the hospital soon.

Buss, who is 78, has experienced problems as of late. In December of 2011 he was hospitalized after having blood clots on his legs.

Buss felt ill at around 9 p.m. PDT and families called authorities. He was rushed to a L.A. hospital immediately.

The owner's illness come amidst trade talks involving the Lakers and Dwight Howard. Assuming trade talks were related to the owner's illness would be pushing it, but the city of Los Angeles finds itself in a pretty exciting time.

Buss worked hard attracting new players in attempts to get the Lakers back to the Finals.

He signed 2-time MVP Steve Nash for 3 years in a deal worth $25 million. Recent talks have circulated of the Lakers making a run for big man, Howard.

The trade would of course include one of Buss' favorite players, Andrew Bynum.

Adding a player like Howard, alongside an age-defying Kobe Bryant, would make the Lakers a favorite in the Western Conference.

Even if the Lakers do not sign Howard, Jerry Buss and the organization have plenty of moves to make as they look to add depth to their sluggish bench.
