Chicago Bears Rumors: Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery Fantasy Football Starts For Monday Night Against Jets Week 3

Sep 22, 2014 02:01 PM EDT

The Chicago Bears have Monday night football against the NY Jets and fantasy football owners are keeping an eye on the health status of Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, as the two wide receivers have been dealing with nagging injuries and could be limited for the MNF game from MetLife Stadium on ESPN for Week 3.

Both Jeffery and Marshall were listed as questionable last week and ended up playing and the same result is likely for Monday Night Football this week. According to Pro Football Talk, Marshall and Jeffery are expected to be in the lineup against the Jets and it comes after Marshall had a huge game against the 49ers in the comeback victory for the Bears in Week 2. Marshall is dealing with an ankle injury while Jeffery has a nagging hamstring injury and both should be closer to 100 percent after getting an extra day to rest with the MNF game.

The two players combined had nearly 100 yards in the comeback against the Niners last week and Marshall led with three touchdowns and he is expected to have plenty of targets on Monday night. Marshall has 13 catches for 119 yards and four touchdowns this season and he is coming off of another huge year after going for 100 catches and 1295 yards in 2013 with 12 touchdowns. Jeffery has eight catches for 118 yards this season and while he has not made it into the end zone yet, his size makes him a matchup nightmare and he should have a field day with the Jets cornerbacks.

Marshall and Jeffery were limited participants in the last practice before the game on Monday night for the Bears, but that was an expected move by Marc Trestman. Jay Cutler has a much better record with both players in the lineup and if fantasy football owners are worried about either player, grabbing Santonio Holmes is the best option as a backup wide receiver.

Marshall comes into the game playing well and while he could be limited on Monday night, he should be able to play and put up some solid fantasy points for owners. Last week many were worried that he wouldn't play and he ended up on the field despite being listed as questionable and the same went for Jeffery. Last week Jeffery did not do much, but he was on the field and as long as he is active, fantasy owners should start him.

Marshall had three touchdowns last week and any owners that benched him learned that hard way that if B Marshall plays, fantasy owners should start him. There's no way he will have a game like that again because that just won' happen for me on my fantasy team, but Marshall will once again be the top target for Jay Cutler and if Dee Milliner remains out for the Jets, he could have a big game. Jeffery likely will be better than he was last week since his hammy will have more time to heal and that could mean a solid game from him on Monday night.
