The National League made it three All-Star Games in a row over the American League after an 8-0 shutout in Kansas City on Tuesday.
Melky Cabrera won the All-Star Game MVP after going 2-3 with 2 runs scored, a homer and 2 runs batted in.
Matt Cain, who got the controversial start over New York Met R.A. Dickey, got the win and outpitched AL starter Justin Verlander.
The NL struck first early in the first inning. In a surprising turn of events, they scored five runs off of the best pitcher in the Majors. Well, the supposed best pitcher in all of baseball.
Pablo Sandoval, another San Francisco Giants player to get a controversial start over a Mets player, hit the first bases loaded triple in the history of the All-Star Game.
With the NL already up 1-0 after a Melky single and a Ryan Bruan RBI double, Verlander walked Carlos Beltra and Buster Posey. The Kung-Fu Panda laced a delivery into the right field corner for a triple, which gave the NL a 4-0.
In reality that was all they needed, but Melky added a 2-run homer in the fourth to cement the victory for the National League.
The NL team that advances to the World Series will now enjoy home field advantage.
Now after the All-Star Game, the trade deadline awaits and the road to September will begin to take shape.
It will be interesting to see which teams can stage a comeback and if there will be any upsets in the final months of the season.
