The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays are playing live on the MLB schedule on Tuesday and the game has Felix Hernandez on the mound from Canada at the Rogers Centre and the game is live past 7:05 pm ET and has RA Dickey also on the mound and this is literally the last chance for the M's to stay in the wild card race, as they are two games back after losing three in a row and they need King Felix to reign.
Felix has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season and he has the inside track to the Cy Young if he keeps things going. The team needs him to pitch well and he comes in with a sub 1.00 Era this month in four starts, but he has only one win in that time. James Paxton was roughed up for the first time in his career against the Jays last night and now the Mariners come into the game two games back in the wild card.
The Mariners are not totally out of it, but they will be if they lose this game and that puts even more pressure on Felix. The Mariners played the Jays in Seattle earlier in the season and swept them to send them on their spiral and out of the wild card race and now they are doing the same against the Mariners. Dickey can be hit or miss with the Mariners and this time he will be looking to shut down Seattle. Jose Bautista has been mashing this season and he slammed another home run in the game on Monday and now he will be looking to beat up the King.
The Mariners have not been a good team offensively this season and now they have the chance to at least salvage the series and possibly stay alive in the wild card chase. The team has been horrible on offense, but they have the best team ERA in the league and they are trying to at least finish the season string after faltering down the stretch in September. The team has hope for the future, but they almost have no chance of making the playoffs now.
