Taj Gibson is tired of the rumors. The power forward/center has done everything right in his tenure with the Chicago Bulls to prove himself as one of the better young big men in the league. However, all that has gotten him is trade rumors and secured spot on the bench. Now reports are surfacing that Gibson is not happy with the Bulls after they loaded up on size in the offseason, a report the forward is denying the truth of.
Gibson ended last season with the impression that he would be the starting forward for the Chicago Bulls, especially after the team got rid of Carlos Boozer. However, they ended that idea by signing Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic off the free agent market, pushing Gibson to the bench once again. While most assume the star on the rise is not happy coming off the bench once again this season, those reports are apparently false.
According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, Gibson is perfectly happy with his role as the team's sixth man. Gibson confirmed that by tweeting out that he did not care if he started or came off the bench as long as the Bulls were winning. "I like coming off the bench tho!! Starting or coming off the bench really doesn't matter. Please miss me with all the drama #SeeRed #BullsNation," Gibson wrote.
No one would blame Gibson for being mad, after all he did play so well last season that he made Boozer forgettable for the team's future. But bringing in Gasol and other big men has given the impression that Gibson is also expendable. There are plenty of teams that would love to acquire Gibson at some point this season. However, Kyler writes that the Bulls are done making moves in 2014 and the power forward will stay put, filling in for Joakim Noah and Gasol when need be.
Most people believe that Chicago is a contending team this year because of the talent and depth on their bench. Gibson is supposed to lead that front along with Mirotic. However, the writing on the wall is there for a potential deal to be put in place. It happened with Luol Deng and then Boozer. Gibson's name has been mentioned too many times to not think something could happen in the future.
