The Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds are playing live on the MLB schedule on Thursday for an afternoon game and the NL Central matchup has no playoff implications, but these teams are playing for pride and the game starts up at 12:35 pm ET from Great American Ball Park and is streaming online and on the radio from MLB.com as Yovani Gallardo and David Holmberg matchup on the mound.
The Brewers were leading the NL Central for most of the season and they faltered badly down the stretch and now they are out of the playoffs overall in the National League. For most of the year it looked as if the Brewers would be a lock for the playoffs, but they fell off just as the Cardinals got hot and now it looks like St. Louis will once again be the champs of the division and that is a bitter disappointment for Brewers fans.
The team was looking good early and for a while had the best record in baseball, but that did not last and now they are battling with the Reds for position in the final standings and they are looking to at least end on a strong streak. The team technically is alive in the wild card race, but things are not looking good and they need the Giants to lose and keep losing for any chance to get in. The team has four games left and they are four back and they have to be hoping for an epic collapse right now.
Ryan Braun has been up and down this season and he has gone 0 for his last eight and he will be looking to get his bat going as the season comes to a close. Gallardo was shaping up to be a solid pitcher this season, but he has done 0-4 over his last six starts and he has fallen off just like the Brewers have. The Reds come in after losing Billy Hamilton to an injury and he will be out and the Reds too were in the mix for a while before fading away this season.
