There is mystery now in the NBA free agent signings.
We have seen this with the Philadelphia Phillies in baseball in the 2010 offseason when they snuck in and signed Cliff Lee, stealing him from the juggernaut New York Yankees.
Now, three teams are in the mix for Brooklyn Nets' Brook Lopez.
The only three teams with enough cap space to make the deal are the Charlotte Bobcats, Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers.
This could be a huge pick up for each team.
Michael Jordan is attempting to change the culture in Charlotte. Lopez could be the right player for the team.
In Dallas, both Jasons, Kidd and Terry are out and Dirk Nowitzki is alone. Never doubt Mark Cuban. The owner is willing to do whatever it takes for his team to win. There is no doubt that he would like to snatch Lopez away from the Nets, which will prevent Brooklyn from landing Howard
It benefits everybody in the Eastern Conference anyways.
No Lopez in the Nets means not centerpiece in a package to the Orlando Magic for their center Dwight Howard.
The Trail Blazers have made it public that they are searching for a center after offering Indiana Pacers' Roy Hibbert a contract. Hibbert decided to sign with the Pacers instead, so the Blazers have the proper budget to steal Lopez away.
A team trying to get Lopez could offer him 4 years and $48 million. The Nets however have the upperhand in price as they could offer Lopez an extra year (meaning a five year deal) for $78 million.
It will be interesting to see what transpires in the next couple of hours.
The Nets have said that they are going to get this Dwight Howard Saga over with today.
Feel free to comment on why or why not Lopez is good for your team.
