Brendan Rodgers said he is confident that star striker Luis Suarez will sign a new contract with Liverpool, after claiming to have held productive talks with the Uruguayan.
Suarez has been heavily linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus, and Rodgers knows the importance of keeping the 25-year-old at Anfield as the former Swansea boss looks to inculcate his playing style.
"I have had a good conversation with Luis over the phone," Rodgers told the club's official website.
"From the outset, he has seemed a really good guy. He loves the city and the passion.
"We have exchanged lots of texts. He sent me a text on the first morning, wishing me good luck.
"He has really bought into what we are trying to do. He was really excited about how we played at Swansea last year.
"He is really keen and looking forward to playing in a similar sort of model. There has been good dialogue (on a contract). I would hope going forward that we can close that out."
Rodgers also revealed contract talks were ongoing with defenders Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger.
"I met Martin for the first time on Saturday and he's a good guy," Rodgers said. "I am looking forward to working with him, likewise Daniel. I had a good feeling after I spoke to him.
"He is very committed to the cause. He has made it very clear that he wants to be here, fighting and working to make the club better. These are issues that we will look to find solutions to in the coming months.
"People always talk about the players coming but what is important are the ones you already have.
"I look at this group and I see a really good group of players."
Exciting youngster Raheem Sterling said he was really impressed by Rodgers and was looking forward to working under him. "It's good being back at Melwood (Liverpool's training ground) with the new manager," the 17-year-old said.
"He makes everyone feel welcome, even the young lads who are coming up. For him to speak to us is really good. He's given us advice, he's a good manager.
"The manager likes his wingers to press high up the pitch, so I'm working on that to try and impress him at an early stage and I'm looking forward to it.
"I'm not the tallest or biggest of lads, so it's just really about doing more strength work so I can be ready for whenever I am called upon.
"His attacking style of play suits me perfectly but I've still got to work hard in training and try to prove myself and hopefully it will pay off.
"I can't take anything for granted, I've got to work hard, day in and day out in training, and the manager has said if you're good enough, you're old enough, so that's nice for me to know."
