The Louisville Cardinals and the Syracuse Orange are playing live on the ESPN college football schedule on Friday night and the matchup is live from the Carrier Dome and will be streaming on WatchESPN as the two Atlantic Coast Conference teams play an ACC game and it starts up past 7 pm ET.
Louisville comes into the game at 4-1 on the season and while they are not ranked, they have recovered well from losing Teddy Bridgewater to the NFL. The team comes in after winning two in a row and that followed a tough loss to Virginia. The team won over Wake Forest and now they have two tough matchups on the road with Clemson and Cuse in this game. These two teams previously played in the Big East and now they are matching up in their new conference.
Reggie Bonnafon and Will Gardner have put up solid numbers for the Cardinals this season and they are trying to make some noise in the ACC after losing their best player. Last week Bonnafon had over 200 yards in the win against Wake and Gardner comes in leading the team in passing yards and TDs this season on the stat sheet. The Cardinals are off to a solid start on defense and they currently are ranked in the top 10 in points against and they are about to come to the tough part of their schedule.
The team has wins over FIU and Wake in their last two games and after matching up with Syracuse, the team has NC State at home and then Florida State. The team has the Seminoles at home and that will be the toughest game of the season with Jameis Winston coming in. The team has Boston College and Notre Dame on the road after that and then the team finishes with Kentucky for that instate rivalry next to end the season.
Syracuse comes in after a loss to the Fighting Irish and they have Florida State coming up next and that will also be at home. Last season the Seminoles killed Syracuse and they at least will try and make this game closer this season. The team has two on the road after playing FSU and those will be against NC State and then against Duke. The final stretch of the season comes against Pitt and Boston College and those are two very tough places to play as well in the ACC.
Both teams have lost their main quarterbacks over the past couple years, with Bridgewater last season and Ryan Nassib getting taken by the Giants. Syracuse also lost head coach Doug Marrone, who is in Buffalo now and they are looking to get a win after losing the last two game to Maryland and ND after opening the season with wins over Villanova and Central Michigan.
