If there are two people the New York Knicks could thank for saving their season last year they would be Mike Woodson and Jeremy Lin.
During the offseason, the Knicks did a great job resigning Woodson as their head coach. The Knicks, however, have stalled at offering Lin a contract.
The Houston Rockets met with Lin last week and offered a four-year $28.8 million contract.
The Knicks have yet to take action, but Woodson has soothing words for New York fans in regards to getting a deal done for the point guard.
He said the Knicks would "absolutely" match the Rockets' offer and told reporters he did not blink when Houston reached out to Lin.
Woodson is guaranteeing that the Knicks will sign Lin.
After the Knicks' season ended with a 4-1 elimination from the playoffs in the first round, Woodson made it clear that No. 17 would play a role in the team's future.
"Jeremy Lin has always been a big part of what we're trying to do as we move forward with out franchise," Woodson told reporters in Las Vegas as the Knicks take part in summer league.
Lin was upset with the Knicks recently because they did not offer a contract right away.
New York understands the value of Lin and see him as a good business asset both on and off the court.
On Wednesday night, Jeremy Lin won "Best Breakthrough Athlete" in the ESPYS. Without a doubt he deserved and it proved that, despite being injured in the latter part of the season and the playoffs, Lin is loved by many and is a popular international figure.
