Investigators concluded that Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno and officials at Penn State covered up "critical facts" in Jerry Sandusky's child abuse.
Paterno and the officials of the University were allegedly concerned about the school and the program getting bad press if the scandal got out to the public.
There a 267 page report, which took 8 months to get together since Sandusky's arrest, was released on Thursday morning by investigators.
For more than a decade, the report states, important and powerful officials from the university, like Sandusky, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, covered up facts and did a terrible job protecting the safety of children.
The report states, "In order to avoid the consequences of bad publicity, the most powerful leaders at the university repeatedly concealed critical facts relating to Sandusky's child abuse."
Dating back to 1998, when a woman made reports of her son coming home with wet hair after showering with Sandusky, nobody stepped up to protect the child. Instead, they decided to cover it up.
Over 400 people from Penn State whether current employees or former employees were interviewed by former FBI Director Louis Freeh, who wrote the report.
Sandusky faces 45 criminal counts and awaits sentencing.
The school will wait and see exactly what penalties it will face after the trial has concluded.
