After a solid win against the Cincinnati Bengals, Tom Brady is suddenly singing the praises of all his teammates. The New England Patriots had been hearing all last week about how this could be the season that breaks their dominance in the league. Brady fed that talk when he questioned whether the team had the offensive talent to be a high-scoring unit. However, one strong win later and everyone is getting a pat on the back from the quarterback.
Tight end Tim Wright was one of the players to have a nice little breakout game against the Bengals, getting his first touchdown in a Patriots' uniform. Brady was not a fan of Wright at first considering the team gave up All-Pro offensive lineman Logan Mankins in the process. However, his one breakout game has the quarterback singing his praises an planning ways to utilize him more.
"And when he does, it's a big impact on our team," Brady said, via CSNNE.com. "He's only been here for four weeks and we got him late in training camp. He's getting his legs underneath him and understanding every week the position we're putting him in. But he's done a great job, and his really a mature guy who's taking the challenge and stepped up to it, understood what the team's asked him to do. And the more he's been out there, the more we produce."
Head coach Bill Belichick is a fan of what Wright is currently bringing to the table. He noted that it is hard for a tight end to come and immediately pick up a new offensive scheme, but now Wright has found his spot with the Patriots and it is paying off.
"But he's smart, he works hard," Belichick said. "He's one of the first guys in here every day and stays late and spends extra time with [tight ends] coach [Brian] Daboll. He's done a good job. Still a lot of things to work on and a ways to go, but as far as his effort and work ethic and attention to detail and so forth, it's very good. But there's still a lot of things that are timing and adjustments and anticipation and so forth [that] can always be better and I'm sure will get better. He's done as much as he can do in terms of learning the offense and trying to work extra to get things right."
Wright certainly stepped up for the Patriots and Brady on Sunday along with Brandon LaFell who had been struggling as well. The jury is still out on the stance of Danny Amendola and Aaron Dobson on the roster, but for now the Patriots are happy to get a few more offensive performers looking good on the field.
